Abrasive Grain Types

  • Aluminum Oxide : A/O

    Aluminum Oxide

    Aluminum Oxide abrasives are the most common. Generally used for grinding metal and wood.

  • Silicon Carbide : S/C

    Silicon Carbide

    Silicon Carbide abrasives are good for grinding glass, plastic, rubber, paint, wood products, titanium alloys and cast iron.

  • Zirconia Alumina : Z/A

    Zirconia Alumina

    Zirconia Alumina abrasives commonly referred to as Zirc or Zirconium are ideal for coarse to medium grit applications on metal. They work best under high pressure, which allows the grain to self-sharpen. Best grain for abusive applications.

  • Ceramic : C/A

    Ceramic

    Ceramic abrasives are high stock removal products. They are the newest innovation and represent the ultimate in performance, providing an aggressive cut under medium or high pressure.   • Compact Grain : CG - A/O

    Compact Grain

    Aluminum Oxide Compact Grain abrasives are a multi-layer grain product that wears down layer-by-layer ensuring long life and consistent finish. Used primarily on metal applications. Best when used with moderate pressure.
